I don’t want to run. I want to run?

I know we have all had those days. Run? Hell no…. Run? Maybe…. Run? Fine. I think I make this face when I am having this conversation with myself:

Today was that kind of day for me. I did end up going for a run and of course I did not regret it at all. I don’t have any one thing that helps me get motivated to run on a day where I would rather just be a bum. Sometimes I muster up enough energy to make myself go, but then those runs usually aren’t the best. Times like today, I stop and think if I miss this run, how long before I can run? If it’s more than a day or two then that usually works and I tell myself I need to get my run in and take advantage of the opportunity.  I didn’t do any strength training though because I was definitely not feeling that. I did a warm-up and 3 mile run and cool down.

I had some other really great work-outs earlier this week. I went to BodyCombat. Total kick in the face. I love that class. This is still my favorite way to cross train because it makes me work every muscle group and I need more upper body strength. I plan to incorporate some more low impact cross training though so maybe a Zumba class soon. Whatever gets you moving!

I had planned on starting some tempo runs this week, but then I realized that I haven’t done a tempo run in months so I’m going to build up to it. Instead I did more of an interval run and it went like this:

5 minute incline walking warm-up

1/2 mile at 6.0mph pace

1/2 mile at 6.9mph pace

1/2 mile at 6.0mph pace

1/4 mile at 7.1mph pace

1/4 mile at 6.0mph pace

1/2 mile at 6.9 mph pace

1/2 mile at 6.0 mph pace

1/2 mile walking cool down

It was a great run. I felt strong and this was after 20 minutes of strength training (back, triceps, and abs).

I have stuff and things tomorrow so it will be a rest day and then a run or a class on Saturday.

It was homemade pizza the other night and this is definitely a kid favorite! It is so time consuming because we all like different toppings, but it is so worth it to have delicious, non-greasy pizza. They both ate all of their pizza, plus fresh fruit on the side.

I always cook mine on a wire rack because the crust cooks evenly and I can make a crispy crust. Also, I just don’t have the patience for a pizza stone.

The kiddos didn’t really consider my personal pizza an actual pizza. It was so good. Fresh tomatoes, marinated artichoke hearts, shaved parmesan, garlic and whole milk mozzarella.

Homemade pizza definitely doesn’t mean perfect. I struggle with making a round pizza so I get some interesting shapes when it is cut up. It all tastes the same! When you can’t get homegrown tomatoes, these are a great substitute:

While still on the topic of food. You should be eating avocados like this and if you aren’t, you are wrong and there is still time to fix yourself.

Are you wondering what is in there??? Worcestershire sauce, fresh lemon juice, salt and pepper. Growing up, my dad always prepared avocados like this. I didn’t know there was any other way to eat it until I was much older.  When Dan and I started dating, he thought I was crazy when I made this as a side for dinner and then he was hooked after one bite. In fact, when he was deployed, they would get fresh avocados occasionally and once his buddies saw him eating them like this…. they all started doing it. Just spreading the good word. Try it. 🙂

I got some fun time at Si-Guy’s school on Tuesday. His class had a pajama day and a class party where they made ornaments.

I was so happy they made ornaments because he was so sad when I pulled out the box of homemade decorations for the tree and Super D had way more ornaments. Try explaining to a kid that just turned 6 that she has had more chances to make ornaments because she is older. All he thinks is, “not fair”.  Yes, we will be in the fair/not fair stage for a long time! This picture also reminded me that boyfriend needs a haircut. Now.

I missed the weekly meal plan this week because…..I forgot. Honesty is the best policy. 🙂 I will be posting our Christmas menu tomorrow for those that may need some ideas to add to their feast.

How do you eat avocados?

Any good side dishes or appetizers you make for the holidays?
